Who We Are

The ICT Cluster is a group of highly committed individuals, from various schools including: Brockhurst Junior, Brockhurst infant, Elson Junior, Elson Infant, St Mary’s Primary, St Johns Primary, Newtown Primary, Siskin Junior, and Siskin Infant, as well as representatives from other agencies. The ICT Cluster includes both teaching and technical staff, ICT Co-ordinators, Headteachers, School Library Co-ordinators, reception/nursery co-ordinators, and ICT consultants from the HIAS ICT Support Team; all of whom provide a rich and varied mixture of experience and expertise that compliment each other.

The ICT Cluster now meets approximately once every half term. Formal meetings are integrated with workshops, guest speakers, hardware and software demonstrations, and practical sessions. Other activities, meetings, and outreach support work are intermittently scheduled between these meetings when required. Such is the success of the ICT Cluster and the development of its work that we are now joined by, and welcome, representatives from schools outside our own ‘cluster’ area who wish to participate in, and benefit from, the work we are doing.

The ICT Cluster would not be a success without the vision and support of those involved. This communication between schools (both infant and junior) in a co-ordinated way, has allowed the schools involved to support each other and to share good practice. This has benefited the pupils that we teach and helps facilitate a more seamless transfer in ICT between both infant and junior school, and junior and secondary school.

The ICT Cluster prides itself in its work, and its formulation of a model that other ‘clusters’ could successfully follow. We are only too happy to share our success with others so that they can also reap the rewards that we, as a group, have already seen.
